· Economic Times Markets, ET Stocks
ACME Solar shares rose 5% after its Q2 FY27 profit surged 133.5% to ₹269 crore and revenue climbed 67.5% to ₹1,007 crore. The rally was also supported by its subsidiary signing a 25-year power purchase agreement with NTPC for a 400 MW renewable energy project.
Key facts

- Q2 FY27
The analysis
NTPC reported ₹269 crore and ₹1,007 crore for Q2 FY27, with movement of 5%, 100% and 67.5% attached to those lines. Those are the figures as filed — what moves the price is how they sit against what the market already expected, not their absolute size.
Against that, the stock is +1.9% on the day at ₹316.25, and has returned -8.3% over three months. It sits 23% below its 52-week high. The power sector has moved -13.2% over the same period, so NTPC is running 4.9 points ahead of its peers.
For NTPC, the question is how much of this is already reflected in the price and how much re-rates the power peer set alongside it.
Why it matters
- The shift to renewables is redrawing which energy names are structural winners versus stranded.
- Earnings versus expectations is what actually re-rates a stock; the surprise matters more than the absolute number.
Market context
- In focus: NTPC (NTPC), in Power.
- Over three months: NTPC -8.3% against Power -13.2% (4.9 points ahead).
